TallyBob started at Priest Lake.
Every summer, my college girlfriends and I spend a week at the lake. It’s the best week of the year, and it has always come with the world’s longest group text. Somewhere in those hundreds of messages are the dates, which is why “Wait, what are the dates again?” is practically a tradition. So are “What time do you land?”, “What seat are you in?” (most of us fly out of Boise), and, all week, “Can you send me that photo?”
Then there’s the food, which is a big deal. Somebody picks up dinner. Somebody grabs the drinks. One of us collects everyone’s grocery list and heroically does all the shopping. Some cook dinner, some cook breakfast, and sometimes we give the cooks a break and go out. At the end of the week, someone lovingly volunteers (or gets volunteered) to sit down with a pile of receipts and work out who’s owed what.
So I built the trip planner I kept wishing we had. The dates, the flights, the plans, the meals, the photos and every shared cost, all in one place. Now the group text is for the fun stuff, and at the end, everyone can see who’s owed what without anyone doing the math.
Why “TallyBob”? The tally adds up all week. The Bob is a Priest Lake tradition. Ask me sometime.
I’m Barclay, and I’m based in Boise, Idaho. I hope TallyBob makes your next trip easier to plan — and a lot easier to settle.
