Refunds

Last updated 8 September 2026

Your first three trips are on us. That’s the real trial — three whole trips, receipts through settle-up, before anything costs a penny. So by the time a trip asks for $9.99, you already know exactly what you’re getting, which is why we don’t run a general refund window.

If something’s gone wrong, just ask

We would far rather sort a problem out than keep $9.99. Email support@tallybob.com if:

  • You were charged twice, or charged for a trip that never opened.
  • You paid by mistake — the wrong account, a duplicate trip, a tap you did not mean — and have not started using the trip.
  • Something on our side went wrong and the trip was not usable.

Those are handled the same day, and go back to the card you paid with through Stripe. Their side usually takes five to ten days, which is out of our hands.

What a refund does to the trip

Nothing in the trip is deleted. Expenses, photos, lists, flights and the settle-up all stay exactly as they were. The trip simply goes back to needing payment, the same $9.99 as before — and paying it opens the trip straight back up, with everything still there.

Your account is not affected, and neither are your other trips. A refund applies to the one trip it was for.

The same is true if your bank reverses the charge instead of asking us — the trip goes back to needing payment. We would much rather you emailed support@tallybob.com first, though: a chargeback costs us a fee on top of the $9.99, and takes months to resolve, where an email takes an afternoon.

Anything else

Tell us anyway. We read every message, and we’re not going to let anyone feel stung over ten dollars if we can help it.

What you are paying for

Each new trip past the free three costs a one-time $9.99, paid by whoever creates it. It is not a subscription — nothing renews, and a trip already paid for is never charged again. Everyone invited joins for nothing. The person who paid can split that fee with the trip like any other expense, or cover it themselves.

One thing we cannot refund

TallyBob never holds or moves the money travelers owe each other. What people pay each other happens in Venmo, Zelle, Cash App, PayPal, Apple Cash or cash, directly between them — so a payment between travelers is not something we can reverse. See the terms for more on that.
